Eugene James is a housing expert who currently serves as a vice president in HomeTrust Bank’s construction lending division.
He specializes in providing residential construction loans to homebuilders and investors in Georgia and surrounding states, including Tennessee, The Carolinas, and Alabama.
A self-proclaimed “geek, nerd, and data junky,” he is also a “people person” who looks past the noise to explain housing market data.
Eugene has more than 30 years of real estate experience, including conducting market studies for builders, developers, and lenders, and advising state and local governments on housing-related issues. He’s also served as a builder in the land acquisition department of Paran Homes and led a national market intelligence company specializing in the residential real estate market.
Prior to HomeTrust’s merger with Quantum National Bank, he formed part of the Quantum team which led residential construction lending throughout the state of Georgia.
In addition to being quoted in outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, NBC News, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, and others, he has also been named an Associate of the Year by the Atlanta Home Builders Association.
Eugene graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and is a licensed real estate broker and real estate appraiser.
He serves as a lifetime board member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association; a trustee and finance committee member at his local church; and a former board member of HomeAid Atlanta, a nonprofit providing housing for homeless women and children.
When not in the office, Eugene can often be found in the water. As a scuba diver, he has dove with sharks and other marine life in Hawaii, Central America, and South America.
He and his wife have two children.
