Each year since 2011, Rockingham County senior service providers have collaborated to present a conference in honor of Wold Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The purpose of the conference is to provide outreach and education to seniors and service providers regarding the broad spanned types of elder abuse and the services that are available.

HomeTrust Branch Manager, Bridget French, will be at the conference speaking about financial abuse.

According to recent studies (www.statisticbrain.com) approximately 2,150,000 adults 65 and older are abused, neglected and/or financially exploited each year. Although many studies vary in the ratio of reporting, the most probable is that only one in 5 cases of abuse is actually reported.
