HomeTrust Bank Honors Clayton Davis

When Davis joined the Board in 1976, the Bank operated from its headquarters in Clyde, North Carolina and had $60 million in assets, with four offices in two counties across Western North Carolina. Today, the Bank has nearly $1 billion in assets with 13 offices in six counties across the Piedmont and Mountain regions of North Carolina. Davis has led the Bank through many industry changes, three mutual savings bank Partnerships, and a name change. Through Davis’ participation and leadership, HomeTrust has evolved into a full-service financial institution, offering customers a wide-variety of home loans, consumer loans, business banking services, checking accounts, Online Banking, and a broad range of investment options to help families build a secure financial future.

“I am so proud and honored to have been a part of the HomeTrust Bank family for the past 30 years,” expressed Mr. Davis. “I am also very grateful for the friendships that I’ve enjoyed and shared over many years. In my 30 years on this Board, it is rewarding to see how we have been able to pool our talents and resources and enable the Bank to help our friends and neighbors throughout this region achieve a better standard of living.”

Mr. Davis, former Assistant to the North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, was one of the founding members and the original manager of the Western North Carolina Farmers Market. He subsequently served as the Executive Director for the Western North Carolina Farmers Market and left a lasting legacy which personally impacted the lives of many, many farmers in our area. Davis’ contributions and accomplishments were recognized with his induction into the WNC Agricultural Hall of Fame, where he was one of the first honorees. Today, Mr. Davis continues to use his agribusiness knowledge to help provide education to farmers and missionaries through his work on the board of the non-profit organization, Aquaculture International.
In addition to his leadership roles in the agribusiness community and at HomeTrust Bank, Davis has worked to help others through support of various ministries in Western North Carolina. He is a member of Living Water Ministries in Bryson City. In addition, Davis provides leadership support for Camp Good News, a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship of North Carolina.

“Clayton has always shown a genuine and selfless commitment to helping others in the community. He leads by example simply by ‘walking the walk’ each and every day. This type of leadership style reflects a true strength of character that is found within Clayton. In addition, Clayton is steadfast in his beliefs and generously shares his gifts and talents with his family, friends, neighbors, community, and the Bank,” stated Ed Broadwell, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HomeTrust Bank. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve with Clayton. He has certainly been a mentor to me and to many others at the Bank. Throughout the community, Clayton is well-known and respected for his integrity and compassion, and we are fortunate to have had a director of such high caliber leading the way for HomeTrust Bank into the 21st century.” Mr. Davis will continue his association with HomeTrust Bank as a Director Emeritus.

To commemorate Mr. Davis’s leadership to HomeTrust Bank and his contributions to the ministries in Western North Carolina, HomeTrust Bank will provide funds to build a gazebo at Camp Good News in Fairview. The gazebo will be named in honor of Clayton Davis for his ongoing support, encouragement, and commitment to the ministry of Camp Good News. “We feel that this gift will perpetuate the caring and spiritual legacy of Clayton,” stated Broadwell. “The gazebo will enable campers, families, and camp staff to enjoy the gorgeous mountain range and feel God’s presence for many years to come.”
