MANNA Food Bank started helping the hungry in Asheville in 1983. That year, they distributed 40,000 pounds of food. Now, they are distributing 40,000 pounds of food each and every day.
Last year, MANNA leaders had to make a tough choice. They turned away 500,000 pounds of nutritious food due to their lack of freezer and cooler space.
The Space to Erase Hunger Campaign will increase capacity for frozen and refrigerated items, increase technology for more efficient food distribution, add a dedicated loading dock for their partnership with Ingles Supermarkets, and overall, provide 4 million more meals per year to the hungry people in our area.
HomeTrust is happy to help our neighbors! The Bank is supporting the Space to Erase Hunger Campaign with a pledge of $60,000.
