HomeTrust Bank sponsored this year’s Taste of Morristown, benefitting Girls, Inc. of Hamblen County. The event not only offered the finest fare in the area, attendees also had the opportunity to bid on items in the silent auction.
Girls, Inc. has been in existence almost as long as the United States! The movement began in New England during the American Industrial Revolution in response to the needs of a new working class; women! It started as a job training organization for women moving from rural communities to work in textile mills and factories.
Today at Girls, Inc., girls learn to set and achieve goals, boldly confront challenges, resist peer pressure, see college as attainable, and explore opportunities using STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
It was a packed house at the gymnasium at The Great Smoky Mountains Community College. Thanks to everyone for organizing a great event to benefit a great organization!
