Shelby is Busy Bettering the Community!

The HomeTrust Bank branch in Shelby, NC is busy preparing for two big upcoming community events; The Don Gibson Theater fundraiser and the March of Dimes, March for Babies.

After nearly 3 decades of sitting empty, The Don Gibson Theater was born from an old art deco movie theater in downtown Shelby. It is now a 400 seat, nonprofit concert hall that everyone can enjoy. Every year, HomeTrust Bank does its part to help keep this theater alive and well in the Shelby community.

This year the Don Gibson Fundraiser will be held on November 14th. One facet of the event will be a silent auction. Now through October 9th you can view a racing legend, Richard Petty’s cowboy hat and framed dress shirt and ball cap on display at the HomeTrust Bank office located at 224 East Warren St. These items will be a part of the silent auction on November 14th.

Buy at ticket or learn more about the event at the Don Gibson Theater website.

Rick Washburn, Market President and his team in Shelby are also very involved in the March of Dimes, March for Babies, raising money for children that are born too soon. They will all be walking at the event held on October 3rd at Shelby City Park. This year, Rick made a personal bet with Travis Mangum of Mangum and Associates to see what team can raise the most money. The loser will have to buy lunch for the other person’s team while wearing a sign saying they lost the bet!
