On September 15th Asheville City Schools held its annual Teacher of the Year Banquet; recognizing teachers from 9 schools, and naming one as the Teacher of the Year for the district. HomeTrust has been a long standing sponsor for this event, awarding the winning teacher $1,000.

At the event, ACS Superintendent Dr. Pamela Baldwin, recognized each teacher before playing a video clip of them in the class room. While all of the clips were very different, they all showed happy students, excited to learn, in a classroom where teachers obviously loved their job!

In the end, Laura Jane Howald of ACS Preschool was named Teacher of the Year. Of her prize money she said, “Thank you so much, this will all be going back into my classroom.” Now that is commitment!
