As a child, Corey Barbour watched his father establish a church in eastern North Carolina, beginning with a handful of members gathering in a small hotel event room.
Over the next four decades, the ministry grew into a congregation of hundreds of members, acquired more than 50 acres on which to build a church facility, and became a cornerstone of the community.
By observing his father’s leadership, Corey developed a belief in the importance of listening, communicating effectively, and meeting people where they are.
Now, as Business Banking Officer at HomeTrust Bank, he applies those same principles to build meaningful relationships with clients from all walks of life.
Corey believes genuine trust and connection are the foundation of business partnerships, and he focuses on finding meaningful ways to serve clients.
In his work with small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Cary, Raleigh, and Durham markets, Corey seeks to understand each business owner’s goals, challenges, and visions for the future in order to provide capital, banking solutions, and strategic guidance that support long-term success.
Sample recent transactions include a $2.35MM owner-occupied commercial mortgage for a construction company; $1.2MM in expansion financing for a restaurant group; a $750K owner-occupied commercial mortgage for a plumbing company; and a $400K line of credit for a transportation company.
Over the course of a banking career spanning more than two decades, Corey has worked across a variety of industries, leveraging experience gained at both large national institutions and community banks to help business owners start, sustain, and scale their operations.
Corey discovered his own entrepreneurial spirit during his time as a student-athlete at Fayetteville State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in client-focused sales before transitioning into banking in 2004.
Outside of professional commitments, Corey remains actively involved in his church and community.
He has supported initiatives focused on literacy, professional networking, and educational advancement, including service with the Fayetteville State University Foundation and the Wake County Lawyers Association, and he is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Corey also considers music to be the soundtrack to his daily life, and he receives his greatest joy from family.
He and his wife, whom he met at a basketball game at Fayetteville State University, are the proud parents of two children who are currently pursuing journeys as high-achieving student-athletes.
A native of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Corey has lived throughout the state and spent the past eight years serving the Cary, Raleigh, and Durham communities.
