John M. Tench, Director of Municipal Finance based in Asheville, takes pride in supporting those who provide essential services and finds his clients to be some of the finest members of their communities.

John fulfills one of the Bank’s community reinvestment initiatives by financing essential capital needs for volunteer fire departments, municipal fire departments, and small to medium-sized municipalities. His primary markets are in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia, with consideration of transactions in contiguous states. He also supports commercial lending activities in his home community of Haywood County, North Carolina.

To carry on the bank’s 25-year history of providing tax-exempt funding for his municipal clients’ essential purpose expenditures, John specializes in meeting budgetary constraints and timetables.

He finances new, pre-owned, and refurbished fire trucks, equipment, and stations for fire departments, as well as vehicles, equipment, and facilities for towns, cities, and counties. He has provided funding ranging from $15K for the purchase of air packs to a $11.5MM construction loan coupled with a USDA takeout loan for a new sheriff’s complex.

John has been supporting communities for over 40 years. He has experience in leadership roles as an active board member for both a charter school and a private Christian school, the United Way, local Chamber of Commerce, an unmet-need health clinic, and his church.

John appreciates his Christian faith and spending family-time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoys golf, home/yard projects, the NFL, and March Madness.
