Bill Musseman

Senior Commercial Relationship Manager
Charleston & Coastal South Carolina

Bill Musseman’s entry into commercial lending was not planned.

Fresh out of the military, Bill started his career as a stockbroker and then stock trader for the brokerage division of a bank.

When the brokerage was sold to a Wall Street firm, however, he took a position in the bank’s retail division – and quickly realized that he thrived as a business advisor.

Bill is now Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Relationship Manager at HomeTrust Bank, where he is an expert in revenue, cash flow, and profitability. He specializes in commercial real estate financing, SBA 504 and SBA(7a) programs, and construction lending for primary operating companies, investors, and others.

When speaking with existing and prospective clients, Bill analyzes current business operations to determine how to reduce inefficiencies and improve the customer service experience.

Among his representative transactions are a $2.3MM working capital line of credit for a government contracting business in Washington D.C.; a $3.5MM SBA(7a) loan for a commercial events planning company; a $2.5MM owner-occupied commercial real estate loan for a used automobile dealership; and a $10MM equipment line of credit for a marine transport company.

Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi through a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship. He then served as an in-flight engineer in the US Navy, where he flew on four military aircraft and logged over 1200 flight hours, a portion of which took place during Operation Desert Storm.

After the closure of his last duty station, Naval Air Station South Weymouth in Massachusetts, he began working as a stockbroker. Over a subsequent career that has spanned more than 25 years, he proceeded to hold numerous commercial banking roles in Washington D.C., Boston, Virginia, and now Charleston, South Carolina.

Bill is currently a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer at the Charleston Food Bank.

When not working, he relishes the people, food, weather, coastline, and marshes of the Low Country. He enjoys sailing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife of more than 30 years, as well as their two children, three Corgis, and Jack Russell terrier.
