At HomeTrust Bank, Chan Patel is a Vice President and SBA Business Development Officer who works with a diverse clientele in the southeast and across the United States. She focuses on transactions involving real estate, business acquisitions, construction, and franchises.
After working at large banks for more than sixteen years, Chan aligned herself with community banks and developed a passion for truly understanding her clients’ needs and making a difference in their lives.
Prior, Chan worked at Quantum National Bank and other local community banks as an SBA and commercial lender. She has also held several management positions in retail branch banking and been selected as one of four commercial bankers to launch a De Novo community bank in Johns Creek, Georgia.
She has experienced three mergers during her career.
Representative of her recent SBA 7(a) deals are a $1.2MM loan for the acquisition of a HVAC company, $2.2MM loan for the purchase of a franchised hotel, and $1.3MM loan for the development of an upscale bar and restaurant.
Born in Zambia, Chan grew up in Toronto and studied in Houston prior to moving to Atlanta. She received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Houston. She has also lived in Georgia for the past thirty years and enjoys hiking, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
During one visit to South Africa, she experienced a Kruger National Park wildlife safari and witnessed the Atlantic Ocean meeting the Indian Ocean in Cape Town, as well as a breathtaking view of Victoria Falls from Zimbabwe and her birthplace of Zambia.
