Jeff Johnson is a Senior Vice President and Senior Commercial Relationship Manager for South Carolina. As someone who is intrigued by manufacturing processes, Jeff says he feels blessed to focus on the state’s world-class coastal manufacturing industry.
In his role, Jeff works alongside a growing team throughout the state to spearhead HomeTrust’s lending practice in the manufacturing, service, distribution, and wholesale industries. He brings acquisition financing, real estate development and specialty financing solutions to small and large companies with revenues ranging from $1MM to $300MM.
His aim is to help businesses grow, and his greatest reward is caring for businesses and their employees and watching communities share in their economic success.
Some of his representative transactions include an $8.0MM credit relationship for a reputable manufacturing company in South Carolina; another $5.0MM working capital line of credit for a well-known manufacturing company in the state; a $4.5MM construction to permanent financing for a commercial project in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; a $2.0MM working capital line of credit for a reputable logistics company in Charleston; and $40MM in guidance lines of credit, A&D facilities, vertical construction facilities, and treasury services.
Jeff started his career in commercial banking in his early 20s. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, he accepted a position at a community bank in Greeley, Colorado. He’s been in banking ever since.
Prior to working at HomeTrust, he worked for ServisFirstBank, where he was responsible for the development and acquisition of commercial banking relationships throughout the Charleston tri-county area. He has also worked at BBVA Compass, which was acquired by PNC in 2020.
Jeff received a golf scholarship at the University of Northern Colorado and credits the sport for instilling him with a lifelong sense of discipline. He notes the parallels between business and the game of golf: Every course is a little different, conditions are always changing, and adapting one’s baseline set of skills is key.
In addition to playing golf, Jeff loves the outdoors and everything the Lowcountry offers, including its history and food scene.
Jeff lives in Charleston with his daughter and wife.
