More than two decades ago, Patrick Smith started his career as a personal banker.
Today, he exercises the role of Vice President in the SBA Business Development division of HomeTrust Bank, where he works with clients throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
In his capacity, Patrick specializes in SBA solutions for partner buyouts; acquisitions, startups, and expansions; and the purchasing, renovating, and new construction of owner-occupied commercial real estate. He aims to help small businesses of any size, with a focus on providing SBA(7a) loans between $500K and $5MM.
In addition to advising clients through the decision-making, closing, and funding stages of financing, some of his recent accomplishments include facilitating a $3MM SBA(7a) loan to help a business owner achieve her lifelong dream of acquiring a damage repair franchise; and facilitating a $1MM SBA(7a) loan to support a specialty construction company’s expansion into Louisiana.
Patrick thoroughly enjoys helping business owners accomplish their goals, whether they have a lifetime of experience or are just starting out.
He also attributes good luck and blind fate with guiding him to HomeTrust, which he believes takes a fair, solutions-oriented approach to the loan process.
Most immediately prior to joining the team in 2025, Patrick worked in Business Development roles at various regional banks.
When he is not assisting clients, Patrick enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and watching football, baseball, and soccer.
A native Georgian, he is based between Atlanta and Athens.
